History

US Taekwondo Center was founded in 1992 by Grand Master Kyung Won Kim.

The doors first opened at 1192 Parker St. This is the longest running Taekwondo Center in the area. The school is part of a chain of centers which have become the recognized leader in Taekwondo  throughout the United States. Grand Master Kim is the founder of eight local schools in the Eastern US, the first in Danbury CT in 1986.

The US Taekwondo Centers are sanctioned by the World Taekwondo Federation in Korea.

The WTF oversees Taekwondo schools in more than two hundred twenty five countries around the globe. Taekwondo is one of the most diversified sport in the world.

Our program in Wilbraham has serviced over four thousand members since its inauguration.

Men , women and children of all ages and abilities have participated in this ancient martial art.

Grand Master Kim has graduated over two hundred black belts to the next level of their training. He is a 8th Degree Black Belt through the World Taekwondo Federation in Korea.

He is one of the founding members and current President of the US Taekwondo Education Federation. Master Kim has developed a  program in the public schools which teach the tenants of Taekwondo to our youth. He is building their confidence and teaching them respect.

He recently attended the Seoul Games as the US National Team Captain providing leadership and guidance to at team of 300 students from around the country.

There is a incredible resource to our local children that often goes unrecognized for his valuable contribution to our community and our culture.
